Leverage Weekly #41 - Quantum Biology Ecosystem launch
The QuBiT websites and tadpole paper are now live!
The 4 websites associated with the Quantum Biology Ecosystem have now launched. These include the main Ecosystem site as well as the individual Institute, DAO and Incubator sites. The DAO itself hasn’t launched yet, but will do so along with the other groups in Bio.xyz’s Cohort 2. The Incubator will be accepting applications in 2025.
Getting these websites together, including the roadmap, has been the primary way I’ve been helping to support QuBiT since May and has included project managing, creative development and producing at least 20 different versions of the roadmap.
When we started working on this, Geoff and I had already created the aesthetic for the briefs. The concept used colored bands on the right to illustrate quantum possibilities which collapsed into a single reality on the left. Between the two sections we also included the wave function collapse equation, which is a nice easter egg if you know what it means and just a cool bunch of symbols if you don’t.
We had received positive feedback from lots of people on this aesthetic but weren’t sure it would survive into the sites. We worked with an excellent designer, Si Maclennan, who liked the concept and thought it was definitely worth building on. He refined it both visually as well as pointing us towards a color palette that both worked together and was strong enough to carry each of the sites in isolation (institute is teal, incubator is yellow, DAO is purple).
Si also produced the “pixel stretching” effect that can be seen on the incubator site. This was originally meant as an alternative to the “bands + equation” concept, but we liked it so much that we found a way to use both. I think it sets the Institute and Incubator in the same world, but with different focuses i.e. science vs. technology.
Now that the sites are up and Cohort 2 has been announced, Geoff and Clarice have started pitching the Quantum Biology DAO with the folks from Bio.xyz. Crypto turns out to be a great audience for quantum biology because the people are interested in the future and are early adopters! Check out Geoff and Clarice’s recorded livestream talking with the folks from Bio.xyz about the promise of quantum biology — it’s gotten over 20k views so far, which is a personal best for all of us.
‘Til next time,
Oliver
p.s. We had such a good experience working with Si that we’ve continued working with him on our own site, which is nearly ready (sneak peak below).
